About
That Was Our Work is a showcase for photographs, histories and stories of what I call invisible infrastructure.
We come across manhole covers, power lines, sidewalks and fire hydrants every day. We train ourselves to render these items invisible - to look past the infrastructure of our modern world.
Yet bricks, manhole covers and sidewalks that surround us are cogs that help the great machine of the world run. They have stories to tell, histories and trends hidden in their design, their materials and their installation. They have a particular beauty all their own.
Cameras are heavy, so I shoot with my iPhone 4 using the base camera along with the Vintage B&W and MonoPhix apps.
